L'Arbousier

Nestled into the hillside with commanding views across the Vernazobres valley, L'Arbousier is a wonderfully light and generously proportioned villa that offers the perfect blend of seclusion and convenience – just a stone's throw from Saint Chinian's vibrant centre. 

This is a sanctuary designed for genuine relaxation, sleeping up to eight guests across four bedrooms and three bathrooms, complete with a sheltered pool, expansive terraces and mature gardens.

The accommodation spans two storeys, with the principal living areas on the upper level. The journey through the house begins in a stunning sunroom – a bright, airy space furnished with inviting rattan seating and a capacious dining table for eight. Floor-to-ceiling views sweep across the valley, making this the ideal spot for morning coffee or sunset suppers as the light fades behind the distant hills. A partly covered sun deck adjoins this room, offering al fresco dining with the same mesmerising outlook. 
 
Through double glazed doors lies the heart of the home – an impressive living room with soaring beamed ceilings, with three sofas and occasional seating for eight. A substantial open fireplace provides cosy warmth through winter months, whilst summer guests can tune into satellite television, radio or their favourite music. French doors open directly into the colourful Mediterranean courtyard, where a covered area provides the perfect retreat during the hottest hours. Rosemary, thyme and sage flourish here for keen cooks, alongside a gas barbecue for evening entertaining. 
 
A well-appointed galley kitchen flows from the living area, featuring an electric oven, gas cooker, generous fridge-freezer and dishwasher. Laundry facilities can be found on the lower floor. 

The principal bedroom is a substantial, tranquil space with king bed, fitted wardrobes and an ensuite shower room with bidet. Bedroom 2 offers another king bed with dual-aspect windows, whilst Bedroom 3 is a charming room with flexible twin beds (convertible to double) opening directly onto the courtyard's shaded abri jardin. Both share a well-equipped bathroom. 
 
The lower level houses an independent studio apartment – ideal for guests seeking privacy whilst remaining part of the household. This comprises a small dining area with kitchenette (microwave, fridge and coffee facilities), plus Bedroom 4 with its own twin beds, private en suite bathroom and southern-facing windows overlooking the valley. 
 
Whether you're poolside beneath the Strawberry Tree (the arbousier itself), absorbed in a book on the terrace, or witnessing the sky's shifting palette from the sun deck, L'Arbousier weaves its particular magic.
