La Sorciere

La Sorciere is one of our 3 two bedroomed cottages/gites at our wonderful old farmhouse logis which dates from the 17th Century. It is set in 2 acres of gardens, meadow and orchard and surrounded by vines and sunflowers.

Living in the main house we are available if you should need us. We are situated on the border of the Charente Maritime (17) and Charente (16) departements, and only 4 to 5 hours drive from the Channel ports, just over an hour from the La Rochelle airport and an hour and a half from Bordeaux.

Only 10 minutes from historic Cognac with it's cobbled streets, pavement cafes, shops gardens, cognac houses to visit and numerous festivals throughout the year. We are also close to wonderful La Rochelle, the beautiful Romanesque small city of Saintes, medieval St Jean D'Angely, Angouleme, Royan, La Palmyre and much much more. Amazing sandy Atlantic beaches are an easy 40 minute drive away and then there is also the Lazy River Charente and nearby lakes for canoeing, fishing and windsurfing.

Children are well catered for with a 10 x 5 metre heated pool, a sandpit and a large selection of toys. We also have table tennis,badminton and basket ball, football goals in the meadow, climbing frames, swings and slides plus bikes to borrow free of charge.

For those who really can't or don't wish to escape the buzz of everyday life completely, we do have a free, accessible wi-fi connection in the courtyard.

Large comfortable living room with a selection of books and games.
Bedrooms
Two very large bedrooms, one with king sized bed the other with full size bunks plus plenty of space for a cot.
Comfortable mattresses, duvets, plenty of pillows and virtually all cotton bedlinen will help you to sleep like a baby!
Bathrooms
Walk-in shower and wc downstairs plus additional upstairs wc/washbasin.
Lots to see and do in the area if you manage to tear your children away from all there is to occupy them here.
Large choice of bars and restaurants just 10 minutes away plus in high season we have visits nearly every day to our courtyard from a local boulangerie van bringing wonderful fresh crusty bread, croissants and pains au chocolat. Often he has cheese, melons and other delights as well.
Children love going out to choose their breakfast and practise their French.

There is a private garden area in front of the gite with table, chairs and a barbecue. We provide sunloungers for relaxing, plus of course there are the rest of the 2 acres to share.
Plenty of safe undercover off road parking to keep your car cool .
Our gite is specially designed and equipped for families with young children.
Cots, highchairs, stair gates, smoke alarms etc are all provided free of charge along with little plates etc and a selection of toys suitable for the ages of your children.
The heated pool is gated and has a safety alarm. It's kept sparklingly clean and it is 1 metre 20 in depth which is perfect for learning to swim and for playing. There are plenty of inflatable toys and we can also provide a paddling pool for toddlers.
We have a large selection of ride on toys for little ones near the huge sandpit and older children will love the play area in the meadow with climbing frames, swings and slides, a giant trampoline and basketball.
