"Wow" Thats all you need to know about Gite Hauteloup.
We had a fantastic stay in the summer ( 2022) with our two dogs.
If you want a relaxing holiday in Burgundy this is the place for you, Karen and Tim
are the owners and live on site which was a plus point as we had so many questions about the area as it was our first time to burgundy.
The gite is a home from home, from a well equipped kitchen to beach towels for the pool, dog bowls and most important a corkscrew !!!
the gite was clean and well furnished, the outside garden with a bbq and is fenced off so you don't after worry about children or dogs escaping!!!
Karen and Tim have four friendly dogs and some goats. Our two got on great together. Karen was happy to take us to the river to show us the route which is only a 10 minute drive just the other side of the town.
We are plaining to go again next summer. We arrived as guests but left good friends!!! so if you have read this review please do book as its one of the best gite we have stayed in over 15 year of travelling to France
This is mine and my husband's second stay at Gite Hauteloup; the first time we stayed was in 2019, and we were due to return in 2021 but had to postpone to 2022 due to Covid. We also took our Weimaraner.
You will NOT be disappointed with Gite Hauteloup, hence our return. Not only is the Gite situated in a beautiful rural location, it is furnished by the owners with a key attention to detail, ensuring that all the pieces they choose, compliment the aspects of each and every room. The kitchen provides all necessary equipment and so much more; you will be hard pushed to list an item that is not there - it is home from home. The sitting room is filled with plenty of natural light which streams through the large glass panels and double doors, where you can sit and soak up the scenery, read a book or enjoy a glass of French wine. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms all with their unique style and selected pieces of French furniture. The original beams and woodwork, really add character to the rooms. Plenty of wardrobe space to hang clothes, all of which have an abundance of coat hangers. The en-suite showers are roomy, and the main bedroom has a roll-top bath for that added luxury. There are up-right fans in all the rooms to ensure a comfortable nights sleep.
The owners (Karen and Tim) are delightful and extremely welcoming; nothing is too much trouble. The welcome pack we received on both our stays was thoughtful and considered; it allowed for a very lazy morning after a long day of travelling from the UK. With the Gite being dog-friendly, there are dog bowls, towels and toys, all provided in the utility room of the Gite. There is a very large garden to the rear with garden furniture including hammock-style sun beds and a BBQ. The garden is all fenced in which meant our dog could go in and out as many times as she wanted without any worry.
The expansive grounds at the front are surrounded by a hedges and a gated driveway entrance. There is also a heated swimming pool which is just perfect when temperatures peek in the height of summer. There are also sun loungers and cushions for your use, and a pretty Pagoda shaded area with a bistro table and chairs.
As the owners have dogs, they are very knowledgable in advising the best places to walk the dog, as well as the towns and locations which are more suited for our 4-legged friends. They gave us lots of recommendations: supermarkets, places to eat out, local Thermal Spa (highly recommended - we went twice) as well as Cremant and wine tasting places. When it came to the end of our stay, the owners contacted the local vets and made the necessary appointment required as part of the process to return to the UK with a dog. This was a huge help as we would have struggled.
Our second stay was superb. Karen and Tim have continued their labour of love with the aim of ensuring all their guests, including their dogs, have a wonderful stay at Gite Hauteloup - you will not be disappointed.
