In the quiet village of Crevant, The Travellers Rest, place de l'Eglise offers a welcome respite and two comfortable bedrooms for travellers who would like to take a break on a long journey, or for those who would like to explore the area a little more, we have no minimum stay requirement. Our prices remain the same all year round (there is a 10% discount for travellers with a pilgrims pass) and include heating, all bed linen, towels, shower gel and hairdryer, coffee, tea, milk and sugar and cleaning. The house has free wifi (it does not have a television or a washing machine but to make life a little easier washing can be done by us for 10 euros per load).
We have a cellar which also has a seating area if you need to escape from the sun on very hot days. The oldest part of the house dates from the 15th century and many additions and modifications have been made over the centuries. The church bells chime on the hour and can make you jump, they do not chime during the night, they begin at 7 o'clock in the morning, (we provide ear plugs for light sleepers). The doorways are quite low, about 5 feet 10 inches, handy to bear in mind if you're on the taller side. The entrance to the cellar is lower, so please mind your head. Its a traditional and we think quite charming dwelling, full of history which we hope guests would find welcoming and restful. Regrettably the house is not suitable for small children or pets. The house is non smoking. Our prices are per person per night payable in euros via bank transfer (the first night would be payable in advance)
one person 45 euros, two people 50 euros, three people 55 euros, four people 60 euros

The village of Crevant is quiet and unassuming but once visited will become a place you will want to return to each time your life needs to drop to a slower pace.
There is a bakery, a small general store to provide the essentials - a delightful cafe/bar Auberge le Boischaut - a very pretty municipal park - and a church, all set within easy walking distance of the house.
Although there are no restaurants in Crevant itself there are several in the nearby villages serving locally produced food to an excellent standard.
La Chatre at 11 km (7 miles) distance is the nearest town with a wider selection of shops, restaurants and bars. There has been a town here since Roman times and is on the Pilgrims' route through France , thus there is a wide range of buildings of interest , a Saturday market and a picturesque bridge spanning the river.
From the tourist office in La Chatre you can also find information on the Romantics - the writers, artists and musicians who , along with the novelist George Sand , made the area well known in their time. Chopin was a frequent visitor to Sand's home and while on holiday with her during their turbulent relationship wrote his famous Preludes.
.
One of her books is set at the Chateau de Sarzay and her most famous one in the house and gardens of her home at Nohant Vic.
Further along the river is one of France's most beautiful villages - Gargilesse Dampierre . Small in area but the houses are built high up above the river and have studios and workshops along the little streets
