A vineyard tour is a great way to sample new wines and make big savings on bottles and cases. Even if you're not a connoisseur, you might discover a new wine you love. Here are some of the best vineyards in Provence.
Domaine de Trevallon
Located near St. Remy, Domaine de Trevallon produces some truly original wines. Many of the wines here are award winners and the combination of the Provence soil and the non-traditional grapes produce striking flavours. Visitors are always assured of a warm welcome from this family-run operation.
Owned by the same family since 1834, Domaine Tempier won its first gold medal for wine in 1885. Set over 38 hectares, the steep slopes of this vineyard continue to produce some excellent wines. The Bandol Red and the Cabassaou are particularly popular but the wines here are all of a high standard. The nearby town of Castellet is a scenic location for a detour and if you're staying in one of the gites in Provence in this part of the region, you'll be blown away by the spectacular scenery.
Mas de Gourgonnier
Situated near Les Baux, this family-owned vineyard has been producing organic wines for over 30 years. The vineyard also produces wonderful olive oil, using a mixture of four traditional Provence olive varieties.
Domaine de Rimauresq
Situated in the beautiful Cote d'Azur, Domaine de Rimauresq produces a spectacular white wine using a mixture of Rolle and Ugni Blanc grapes. The estate also produces excellent red wines using a combination of traditional farming techniques and modern winery methods.
