Saint Fiacre consists of two adjoining properties, Les Cerisiers and Les Hortensias and sleeps 14 guests in total. It is thought to have been built in the mid 19th century. The owner added a unique touch when he mounted a weather vane made by himself from an old copper hot water tank which depicts Saint Fiacre.
It is situated in the peaceful village of Radenac and less than 5 minutes drive from the larger commune of Reguiny where there is a boulangerie, restaurant and bar. Also a small carp fishing lake. Reguiny has an indoor pool. The outdoor pool is available during summer months.
WiFi is available throughout the accommodation.
All rooms have exposed beams and are traditionally furnished in Breton style, including grandfather clocks.
This spacious gite, sleeping 14 people in 6 bedrooms plus 2 babies, has the advantage of a ground floor bedroom (Bedroom 3) and bathroom making it particularly suitable for guests with impaired mobility. There is a interconnecting door between the two gites, Les Cerisiers and Les Hortensias. The first floor accommodation in Les Hortensias makes this sleeping area unsuitable for children age 1yr – 10 yrs as there is a galleried landing area which could be a safety issue. The property is ideal for large groups and the kitchen area in Les Hortensias can seat 14 guests.
The magnificent, beautifully landscaped garden has been lovingly cared for by the owners. The hydrangeas in the summer months being a focal point of colour. The numerous fruit trees include, apples, pears, plum, cherries and walnuts.
Accomodation in more detail:
The entrance to Les Cerisiers leads directly into the lounge area. There is comfortable seating and also a dining table which extends to seat 8 people.
UK TV is provided via a Humax box and French TV is also available. Heating is provided by an electric heat pump. A DVD player is provided.
Next to the lounge area is the superbly equipped kitchen, with a dishwasher, microwave, cafetière and toaster. The cooker has a gas hob and electric oven. There is also a washing machine and a fridge/freezer. A clothes line is provided for each gite outside.
A separate dining table is provided in the kitchen and also in the adjoining dining room. These both seat 4 people.
The downstairs bedroom (Bedroom 3) has a double bed and an easy chair. Next door to this is a bathroom with an over bath shower, wash basin and WC.
Leading from the kitchen are the stairs for access to the first floor.
Bedroom 1 – a spacious room with a double bed. The two velux windows give a light and airy feel. This room has a TV providing UK channels.
Bedroom 2 – A family room. This large room easily accommodates a double bed and two single beds. Ideal for younger children as there are many toys provided.
A travel cot is provided and also a high chair.

Spacious Landing area/”Snug”
This comfortable area is perfect for some peace and quiet and relaxation.
First floor Bathroom
The bathroom has a shower cubicle, wash basin and WC.
The entrance to Les Hortensias leads directly into the kitchen/dining area. Here there is comfortable seating for up to 14 guests using the two tables provided. The kitchen is spacious and superbly fitted with all you need for a self-catering holiday. There is a dishwasher, oven and hob, fridge and small freezer and washing machine. Also a microwave, toaster and cafetière. Leading from the kitchen is the stunning main Reception Room with large French windows opening out to the garden. The focal point as you look towards the first floor, is the beautiful galleried landing which adds to the light and airy feel of this gite. The landing is not enclosed making the upstairs accommodation on this side of the property unsuitable for 1-10 year olds.
UK TV is provided and WiFi is available throughout the property.
There is a shower room and WC on the ground floor.
Leading from the lounge are the stairs for access to the first floor and magnificent galleried landing area.
Bedroom 4 – Attractively decorated with double bed and velux windows and plenty of room for a cot.
Bedroom 5 – Another attractively decorated room with velux windows and a double bed.
Bedroom 6 – Another room with a double bed.
A cot is provided and also a high chair and baby bath.
Galleried Landing Area
This is a light, spacious area with seating provided and a bright rug to give a splash of colour! It overlooks the lounge and has a slatted balustrade.
The bathroom has a shower cubicle, wash basin and WC.
All linen and towels are included in the rental price.
There is “off road” parking for 4 cars. Two BBQ’s are provided. Also outdoor furniture, including sun loungers and deck chairs and a table and chairs for “al fresco” dining. A small outdoor chess board is available for guest use.
The garden is gated but not secured around the perimeter therefore guests should supervise children and dogs at all times.
Nearest ferry from the UK arrives at Saint Malo, about a 2 hour drive from the property. A 20% discount is offered on all Brittany Ferries crossings.
Flights from the UK to Rennes Airport (1 hour away), Dinard Airport (1hr 39 minutes) and Nantes Airport (1hr 50 mins).
Pets are allowed by prior agreement. Please enquire at time of booking. Dogs are not allowed on furniture or upstairs and must not be left unattended in the gite. Any dog “mess” must be cleared up. There is a Pet Fee of £10 per week.
The Chapelle of Saint Fiacre is immediately opposite the property.
This was built at the initiative of a Knight Templar or Hospitaller of the Order of St. John. Its construction was spread over several eras. The main nave, of Gothic style, is from the end of the 14th century.
Saint Fiacre is the patron saint of gardeners.
The chapel was also a place of pilgrimage. A register was held here from1655 which reports stories of healing.
Saint Fiacre, is recalled as a miracle worker who cured many people.
Less than 5 minutes by car is Reguiny. Here there is a boulangerie for those all important breakfast croissants! Also a bar and restaurant, and pharmacy. The Intermarché supermarket is open on Sunday mornings from 9am – midday.
There is a fishing lake stocked with roach, bream and carp. Permits for using this can be obtained from the Bar Tabac in Reguiny.
Reguiny has both an indoor and, in summer months, an outdoor pool.
Near to the lake is a museum depicting World War 2.
The nearby medieval town of Josselin is a lively mix of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. The magnificent chateau, still inhabited by the Rohan family, has guided tours in both French and English during the summer months.
The chateau overlooks the Nantes-Brest canal where kayaks, electric boats and bikes can be hired.
Every Saturday is market day in Josselin. Local fresh produce including, cheese, vegetables, shellfish and cold meats are on sale.
Less than half an hour drive from Radenac, is another beautiful market town. The market is held each Monday, throughout the year. There is also a chateau in the town and numerous eating and drinking places. Also three large supermarkets.
DOMAINE DE KERGUEHENNEC
A 15 minute drive from the accommodation takes you to the Domaine de Kerguéhennec. Here you will find an unusual sculpture park and chateau in magnificent grounds. There is a large lake and lots of woodland. There is a small café in the park but opening times can be limited! In the chateau there are often art exhibitions.
PONT SCORFF ZOO
The zoo at Pont Scorff, under an hour by car, is ideal for younger members of the family.
LAC AU DUC, PLOERMEL
About 25 minutes drive is the Lac au Duc. Here there is a small beach and watersports At the edge of the lake are several cafes and restaurants.
The nearest beach to the gite is at Larmor Plage. Here you will find an abundance of cafés and restaurants. Many of these serve the ever popular “fruits de mer”, including mussels and oysters. The beach is shallow and safe and childrens’ clubs can be found here during the summer months.
Vannes is the administrative centre of Brittany. A delightful town to visit with some really beautiful buildings. The harbour area is always popular in the summer months with its many restaurants.
THE BRITTANY REGION
Brittany offers a wealth of varied landscapes - beautiful sandy beaches, deep forests and medieval towns.
Brittany is easily accessible from the UK via several Ferry Ports and is also served by flights from the UK to 4 French airports.
From spectacular beaches with rugged coastlines to vast sandy expanses, to peaceful woods and forests and the famous Nantes-Brest Canal, Brittany has all the makings of a perfect holiday.
The cuisine in the area includes crepes and galettes and of course the seafood! Mussels and oysters are available throughout the region, particularly in the summer months. Cider is produced here and local varieties are available in all supermarkets and restaurants.
During the summer numerous villages and town celebrate the "Pardon" which is predominantly a religious thanksgiving but is always followed by a celebratory meal (with a drink or two!) and Breton dancing.
