Maison du Cidre is a comfortable gite in Lizio, a small village in rural Brittany.
The property can accommodate 5/6 guests in three bedrooms. It has 2 shower rooms, one of which is on the ground floor.
As you approach the property through the small gate you will see the large garden ahead with flower beds and several mature trees. The front door opens directly into the beautifully fitted and well equipped kitchen, complete with a dining table to seat 6 guests.
The cozy sitting room has a feature fireplace. UK TV is available and French TV will soon be installed in one of the bedrooms. WiFi is available throughout the property. Also on ground floor is a utility room which houses the washing machine and a freezer.
The ground floor shower room has a shower cubicle, toilet and wash basin.
Upstairs are the three bedrooms. The smallest of these has a single bed with a "pullout" bed underneath making it suitable for either 1or 2 guests. Bedroom 2 and Bedroom 3 both have double beds plus wardrobe and drawer space. The upstairs shower room is well fitted with a shower cubicle, wash basin and toilet.
Outside the large garden lends itself perfectly to relaxing in the sunshine with a glass of wine after a hard day sightseeing!
A BBQ is available. Also relaxing deckchairs and an outdoor table and chairs set.
Well behaved dogs are welcome to stay (maximum 2) by prior arrangement. We can help with your vet's appointment before travel back to the UK. There is a £10 per week cleaning charge for your dog. Please don't allow your dog on furniture or beds.

LIZIO AND THE LOCAL AREA
Lizio is a small rural municipality in the canton of Malestroit.
Surprisingly for a small village, there are 3 museums in and around Lizio! These include the Poete Ferrailleur, with fabulous animatronics – an old ironworks museum, Musee de vieux metiers, a step into Brittany in the past and the Insectarium (Insect Museum).
In August the village holds its traditional Festival of Artisans, an art and model show. More than 150 craftsmen and artists are present to display their work and show their skills to the public. Also over 40 model exhibitors present their finely crafted and detailed models. Traditional Breton music and dance is also performed in the centre of the village.
Nearby are some Petites Cités de Caractère & Villes Fleuries.
There are many picturesque towns on the River Oust/Nantes-Brest Canal including Josselin.
This perfectly preserved medieval chateau is still lived in by the Rohan family.
The chateau and Dolls' Museum are open to visitors from April to October and there are tours in English daily during the summer.
Malestroit is a pretty market town with regular concerts in summer.
The canal is flanked by paths for walking and cycling, with boating for miles in both directions.
On the outskirts of Malestroit is the Musée de la Résistance de Bretagne'
This fascinating museum chronicles the vital role played by the people of Brittany at the time of the German Occupation during the second World War.
Nearby is the charming town of La Gacilly. During the summer months an outdoor photographic exhibition is held. Boat trips on the canal are available. The Yves Rocher factory, shop and Spa are situated here. Also a vegetarian restaurant - very unusual in France!
Rochefort-en-Terre, about 45 minutes away, was voted “prettiest village in France” in 2015. With its cobbled streets, plentiful restaurants and shops, it is a must on your holiday agenda!
A 30 minute drive from the accommodation takes you to the Domaine de Kerguéhennec. Here you will find an unusual sculpture park and chateau in magnificent grounds. There is a large lake and lots of woodland. Dogs are welcome! There is a small café in the park but opening times can be limited! In the chateau there are often art exhibitions.
The walled city of Vannes is about a 50 minute drive from Lizio. The harbourside restaurants in Vannes are always busy in the summer months. The local seafood, oysters and mussels being particularly popular.
The zoo at Pont Scorff is ideal for younger members of the family (about 1 hour away)
The Prehistoric Park at Malansac, about 45 minutes away, is another great day out for the youngsters. There are 30 scenes of reconstruction of the dinosaur age. The park is based on models and information from the Natural History Museum in Paris.
Nearby (1 hour drive) is the stunning medieval city of Rennes, capital of Brittany. There are numerous outdoor cafés and restaurants in the picturesque square plus shops so perfect if you want some retail therapy!
Brittany offers a wealth of varied landscapes - beautiful sandy beaches, deep forests and medieval towns, easily accessible from Lizio's central situation.
Brittany is easily accessible from the UK via several Ferry Ports and is also served by flights from the UK to 4 French airports.
From spectacular beaches with rugged coastlines to vast sandy expanses, to peaceful woods and forests and the famous Nantes-Brest Canal, Brittany has all the makings of a perfect holiday.
The cuisine in the area includes crepes and galettes and of course the seafood! Mussels and oysters are available throughout the region, particularly in the summer months. Cider is produced here and local varieties are available in all supermarkets and restaurants.
During the summer numerous villages and town celebrate the "Pardon" which is predominantly a religious thanksgiving but is always followed by a celebratory meal (with a drink or two!) and Breton dancing.
