Description

Gite Le Pastourel is a large, 3 bedroom, stone farm house located on the edge of a small hamlet, Soula, in Ariege, SW France. The house has a swimming pool with private access for guests and is positioned in nearly 2 acres of garden and grounds on a sunny south facing slope with impressive views of the high Pyrenees and the borders with Spain and Andorra. The house offers well finished, high quality accommodation with large, airy rooms in a tranquil setting. Our emphasis is on quality and comfort and included in the rental are many extras such as fluffy white bathrobes, a generous welcome basket of supplies, and hand wash in the bathrooms. It has a large sun terrace for outdoor dining, sunbathing or taking in the views and a mature garden with plenty of shaded seating. There is ample onsite parking and miles of walking routes from the house. Perfect for a relaxing break from a busy working life.

The accommodation is set on three floors and outside the high season, it is available as a 2 bedroom, 1 shower-room house for a lower rental cost. The large bedrooms are flexible: one has a king sized bed and two rooms are available as either twins or doubles (one room has a double and a single bed and the other has two singles which can be locked together as a super-king on request). The house has been furnished to a high standard with a mixture of the contemporary and antique for a stylish look and all of the beds have deep and comfortable pocket sprung mattresses. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering with a Falcon double oven range with a 5 ring ceramic hob. The living room is well equipped with a log burner, French satellite TV and Blu-ray player and a range of DVDs, games and books as well as information and local maps showing walks in the area. There are no hidden rental fees and such things as cleaning and linen are included in the rental cost.

Taxe de Sejour (tourist tax) is collected on behalf of the local tourist office at 85c per adult per night.

There is a hot tub near the pool terrace which may be available at an extra charge per week or per day.

The house is a perfect venue for groups of friends or family to holiday together and although children are welcome, the property is not ideal for small children. There are hazards including a raised terrace, the swimming pool and ponds and the property is equipped for adults seeking relaxation rather than for young children looking to play.

Soula is positioned in a quiet valley between Foix, the capital town of Ariege, and Lavelanet. It is well placed for visiting the high mountains to the south and the spa town of Ax-les-Thermes as well as the medieval towns and villages to the north such as Carcassonne and Mirepoix. The Mediterranean is only 2hrs drive to the east or you can visit Lac Montbel just half an hour away with its water sports and freshwater beach area. Activities nearby include walking, cycling, horse-riding and mountaineering. The nearest ski resorts are 45 and 50 minutes drive away for winter sports.

Alternatively, for those wanting something a little less active there are several excellent town markets nearby each week; plenty of restaurants; vineyards for wine tasting or you can just relax in the hammock in the orchard and pretend to read your book! The rental price is set in euros based on a weekly rate. Please enquire for prices for shorter stays (minimum stay 3 nights). Payment can be made in sterling to a UK bank if required. Maximum occupancy is seven (adults and children). The house is not available for events or parties. No smoking is allowed. One small dog may be allowed for an additional price of €30 - please contact the owner for information. Children are welcome but must be supervised at all times. There is a large garden and an elevated terrace which may provide hazards for unsupervised young children.

Terms and conditions

Detailed terms and conditions are available on request. In brief, booking is confirmed on the receipt of payment of 20% of the rental fee. This booking deposit is not refundable. The balance of the rental fee and the refundable security deposit is due 45 days before arrival date.
