Le Puit 2 bedroom stone Gite

Summary

Unique gite, original beams, rural charm, pool.

Description

Le Puit, one of three gites at Les Coindries, was once a cowshed transformed with original beams into a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area. The two bedrooms feature a period French double bed and a 120cm x 90cm double bed. The living space includes a sitting/dining/kitchen area with Internet access. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric oven, gas/electric hob, large fridge-freezer, coffee machine, and microwave. The gite's charm extends to a glass-covered original well and a front terrace with a table, chairs, and a BBQ overlooking the gardens and courtyard.

Please note that this is an open-plan gite with a dividing wall (not full height) between the two bedrooms.

For relaxation, guests can enjoy the swimming pool and sun terrace, or retreat to the tranquility of the 'secret garden' with a good book.

Les Coindries can be found 7km south of Richelieu - famous for its Cardinal of the same name the most powerful man in France during the reign of Louis XIII. The Cardinal spent his early life at the beautiful (though now partly ruined) Chateaux de Coussay and later building a magnificent palace and town of Richelieu. The great palace was later demolished, but the huge park remains including the moat and island on which the Cardinal first built the palace. The park is a wonderful place of a walk or bike ride at anytime of year. This little known citadel is an architectural jewel of France and can be reached in 10 minutes from Les Coindries.

Directions

ROAD DIRECTIONS FROM RICHELIEU TO LES COINDRIES

We recommend that to reach Richelieu, you follow/stay on the A10 south from Tours to junction 25, signposted for St Maure de Touraine and Richelieu. (Satnav often seems to take you across country via Angers, Chinon etc., this is not the best route)

From Richelieu follow the D749 towards Chatellerault

• After approximately 2 miles or 3 kilometres turn right on to the D757 signposted for Faye la Vineuse, Lencloitre and Poitiers.
• Driving past the village of Faye la Vineuse, stay on the D757 for a further mile (2km approx.)
• At crossroad at La Belle Indienne you will see a dark green warehouse on your left, Val de Serigny, Melons de Haut Poitou. (If you have reached the Salle de Fete on your right with a baguette machine outside – turn around you have gone too far).
• Turn left at the crossroad onto the D23 signposted for Serigny (nearly there now)
• Follow road for about half a mile, past the leaving ‘Belle Indienne’ sign and past the large round stone-built pigeon tower on the right.
• You will see the crossroads with cross of Jesus on the right hand corner ahead of you. Turn left onto a small unamed lane.
• Almost immediately turn right onto Route des Coindries; this is partially hidden by trees.
• Les Coindries is the large stone farmhouse on your right opposite the black barn on your left.
• Park your vehicle on the left by the barn and come through the gate.
• Our Border Collie Colin will welcome you.
