La Terrasse is a two bedroom stone cottage situated on a quiet side lane in a peaceful back-water of the medieval village of St Gengoux Le National. A former winemaker's house, believed to date from the 16th century, the property has been renovated to provide a high standard of accommodation throughout, and is light, airy and spacious. As you arrive at the front of the property, stone steps take you up to a south facing terrace and access to the cottage. The ground floor comprises a spacious open plan kitchen / living room, and a twin bedroom with big shower room, while upstairs is a large double bedroom with spacious en suite shower room.
The bright kitchen area is very well equipped with electric hob and oven, fridge-freezer, washing machine and dishwasher, while the living area has ample soft seating with UK and French TV, a DVD player, a music system and wood-burning stove. Wifi access is included in the rental price.
The larger terrace is accessed through patio doors and catches both the morning and afternoon sun. Both terraces have dining tables and chairs with the larger terrace also having sun loungers and a barbecue. Below the front terrace is a cellar suitable for storing bikes etc.
La Terrasse is only a few minutes’ walk from the centre of St Gengoux, which has many shops, several bars and a couple of simple restaurants. There is a large bustling market every other Tuesday morning and a welcoming wine cooperative. The voie vert, a rural cycle route, runs through St Gengoux and bikes can be hired at either the old station or tourist information office.
