La Petite Gravelle is a beautiful Gite for couples (a cot and additional single bed is available on request) situated on the edge of a quiet hamlet in the heart of the Charentaise countryside in south-west France.
The Gite is beautifully renovated with exposed stone walls and a traditional Charantaise fireplace married to modern conveniences. It is tastefully furnished and decorated to reflect its regional provenance.
It is just a ten minute drive from the historic Abbey town of St Jean d'Angély with its cafés, bars and restaurants and within easy reach of Cognac, La Rochelle, Saintes, the endless beaches of the Cote Sauvage or the fascinating Venise Verte (Green Venice) of the Marais Poitevin.
The Gite is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need to make your holiday complete - after a day exploring this fascinating region you can use our bicycles to explore the quiet lanes, relax on the sunbeds in the private south-west facing courtyard or have a barbeque as you watch the sun go down. There are also approx 2,000sq m of orchard, pottager and river bank of our land to explore. A WiFi link throughout the Gite with free internet access, English HD satllite TV and French HD TV go without saying.

La Petite Gravelle is on the edge of a tiny hamlet with open views across the surrounding countryside. The area is perfect for walking or cycling with many quiet lanes criss-crossing the farmland. In season there are golden sunflowers, the more vivid yellow of oilseed rape, the occassional bright blue of flax, fields of golden wheat, pale lilac poppies or tall, waving maize. Grapes too are a vital part of the local economy and our local wine and pinot producer is only a few hundred metres from the gite.
