Le Figuier is a 2 bedroomed cottage/gite at our wonderful Logis farmhouse which dates from 17th century. The exceptionally baby and child friendly accommodation is set in 2 acres of gardens, meadow and orchard close to Cognac SW France. We also have 2 other holiday cottages here. The 3 houses are very well spaced on different sides of an enormous courtyard so that you can be very private if you want to but at the same time it is easy to make friends with other families staying here at the same time.
Le Figuier is situated at the end of the immense courtyard and has windows looking over the courtyard and pool and also French doors opening onto a superb private barbecue/outside dining area in the meadow.
This gite is an especially good choice if you want to sit and relax with a good book while being able to see your children enjoying the climbing frames, football area etc or perhaps sit under the fairy lights enjoying a glass of wine in the warm summer evenings.
There is a large combined kitchen/dining/living room with everything you need for a comfortable holiday including full sized cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, coffee maker, dish washer and washing machine.
Plenty of seating for eating at the table or relaxing in comfortable chairs.
Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, one with a 160cm bed and the other with full sized bunkbeds. The children's room overlooks the pool and the other bedroom looks over the meadow.
There is plenty of space to add a cot to either room.
The shower and WC is upstairs. The house has stair gates top and bottom to keep young children safe and also a smoke alarm and CO2 alarm.
We've added a selection of books and games and we always try to include toys to suit the ages of your children.

The roads in France are generally good so it is very easy to get here.
Living in the main house we are available if you should need us. We are situated on the border of the Charente Maritime (17) and Charente (16) departements, and only 4 to 5 hours drive from the Channel ports, just over an hour from the La Rochelle airport and an hour and a half from Bordeaux.
Only 10 minutes from historic Cognac with it's cobbled streets, pavement cafes, shops gardens, cognac houses to visit and numerous festivals throughout the year. We are also close to wonderful La Rochelle, the beautiful Romanesque small city of Saintes, medieval St Jean D'Angely, Angouleme, Royan, La Palmyre and much much more. Amazing sandy Atlantic beaches are an easy 40 minute drive away and then there is also the Lazy River Charente and nearby lakes for canoeing, fishing and windsurfing.

What a very happy week we had at Le Figuier. It's hard to explain the feeling of utter contentment that descended on us as soon we pulled into the drive. The whole place is beautiful and so obviously loved by everyone who stays (read the guest book reviews!), and the generosity of owners is evident in so many ways (down to things like supplying enough washing powder for our stay). Having had many similar holidays in family-oriented places, we all agreed this came top. Thank you so much Heather and Philip! We have already recommended you to others and very much hope we will see you again. Fiona, Harry & Jim (4 and 11 months)
We’ve holidayed at Logis la Cabane every year since 2012, sometimes more than once. The kids, who were 12 and 10 when we first visited, wouldn’t let us go anywhere else – not that we’d ever want to!
Whether it’s a kickabout on the sports pitch in the meadow, a game on the trampoline, playing table tennis in the barn, or swimming in the pool, there’s plenty to keep the children amused.
As the kids have got older they, like us, have appreciated the peace and tranquillity of just relaxing by the pool or in Logis la Cabane’s large courtyard, for a snooze or a catch-up with a good book.
And all the family have enjoyed riding the bikes through the vineyards and fields of sunflowers that surround the property. My other half will often cycle 15 or 20 miles and see only half a dozen cars.
Nearby Cognac and Jarnac both have the beautiful Charente river running through them, and offer plenty of attractions as well as a good choice of restaurants and supermarkets. The market town of Matha is even closer and also offers supermarkets as well as a new pizzeria for eating in or takeaway in the courtyard.
Siecq has a really good local wine producer, and there are many independent Cognac makers on the doorstep.
Le Figuier is ideal for a family and our son, in particular, loves the fact that he can escape the heat of the sun and go inside, where the thick stone walls keep the rooms nice and cool. The large French doors to the cottage’s seating area by the meadow really bring the outside in.
We look forward to returning to Logis la Cabane each year. Indeed you could say that the greatest tribute we can pay is that the kids – even at 18 and 16 as they were on our last visit – wouldn’t miss out on their holiday there, even if it is with their parents!
