Le Cerisier is a delightfully converted hay barn, surrounded by beautiful Charente countryside, offering quality accommodation for four. Large garden with plenty of room for children to play outdoor games, play park and access to Gym and Sauna.
Lots to do on site with large heated pool to relax by in the summer months or a perfect place to explore local attractions and activities, with water sports and beach at the nearby lake, La Rochefoucauld town with its own Chateau and so much more!On the ground floor, both the lounge and kitchen/dining room have ceramic tiled floors, ideal for staying cool underfoot on those hot summer days. Both rooms have external doors which lead out on to the south facing patio, which is equipped with gas BBQ, 3-person swing-seat, patio table and chairs and has the luxury of an electrically operated (3m x 4m) wall-mounted sun-awning.
The double aspect living room benefits from UK satellite TV, DVD player Google Chromecast and Speaker and is equipped with large sumptuous Tetrad sofa and matching armchair. The kitchen has been designed around the original bread oven which remains a feature at the rear, whilst the original thresher gearing is a feature on the dining area wall. It has been refurbished to a very high standard with all major kitchen appliances (Washing Machine/Dishwasher/Fridge-Freezer/Oven/Hob) being Bosch and also provided is a Krups individual coffee machine which is capable of producing Espresso, Caffe Lungo, Cappuccino, Cortado and Mocha - so no need to miss out on your usual morning real coffee fix, just because you're on holiday! (Nespresso machine available on request).
Stairs rising from the dining area lead to the first floor landing, which has a small feature window and storage cupboard, which is home for the Wi-Fi router which gives excellent Wi-Fi coverage throughout the property. The stairwell and landing have exposed oak beams and solid oak features. To the right, the main bedroom has an oak King-size bed and a generously proportioned en-suite shower room with large shower (120cm x 80cm) and twin wash hand basins. The shower room has a white on grey colour scheme which showcases the quality of the fittings and accentuates the overall sense of luxurious quality.
On the left of the stairs is the twin bedroom which also has its own en-suite facilities - this time a modern bath with shower. Two full size twin beds ensure comfort and there is ample storage in the wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables. (Note - it may be possible to offer this room as a double bedroom - please enquire if required). Both bedrooms have spectacular southerly views over the garden and the rolling countryside beyond and both have full length windows with are fitted with attractive wrought iron safety rails.
All rooms have exposed oak beams and at least one exposed stone wall (with the exception of the master en-suite shower room, which has no exposed stone) and this, combined with the modern refurbishment which the property has recently undergone, provides a sympathetic combination of period character and modern convenience, ideal for a comfortable and relaxing holiday.
It has a large (13 m x 6 m) heated pool (end of May to September) - shared with the occupants of Le Pommier, our other gite - with a shallow end depth, 1m which is ideal for children and a deep end which is 2.5m. There is also a gym and 4 person sauna (small extra charge). The large poolside Summer Terrace provides a welcome shaded area to dine al fresco or just to relax in the hammock with a book. Equipped with dart board, Table Football table, American style fridge/freezer with ice-maker, sink, sofa, tables & chairs & changing facilities, it is the ideal place to relax whilst still being able to supervise the children having fun in the pool. Table Tennis, Croquet, Badminton, Volleyball and Boules are all available on site as well as an enclosed Children's PlayPark with slide, swings, rope-ladder and climbing wall.
To the south side of the property, the main garden is laid to over 1000m2 of grass, giving plenty of space for energetic ball games, a more relaxing game of Boules or Croquet on the newly created Croquet 'Lawn', or perhaps even a spot of archery! Mini-football goals, a volleyball/badminton net and a 14ft trampoline with safety net are available for those with energy to burn. An enclosed kiddie's Playpark, with slide, swings, rope-ladder and small 'climbing wall' is situated adjacent to the trampoline.
