Cottage in a peaceful hamlet by the River Vezere

Cottage in Aquitaine
5/5 ( 1 Reviews)

Description

Our cottage has an open-plan, light, living room including a dining/kitchen area in the French country-style (with electric cooker, microwave, washing machine and fridge). There are three bedrooms: a large double (opening onto a West-facing balcony above the terrace) and a twin bedroom upstairs and also a twin bedroom downstairs (which is ideal for elderly visitors who find climbing stairs a challenge). There are two toilets: one downstairs with a large-area shower facility and the other toilet is upstairs with a bath and washbasin.

Directions

Brive is at the intersection of two main motorways: the A20 running North-South and the A89 running East-West so the cottage is easy to reach by road from the usual ferry ports.
The nearest train station is only 3 km from our cottage at Terrasson (on the Bordeaux to Brive railway line).
Brive has a new airport (Brive-Souillac) which is only 30 minutes away from Les Escures, but there are more economical flights to the UK from Limoges or Bergerac airports (both 90 minutes away) or Bordeaux airport (2 hours away).

Neighborhood

Les Escures is a tranquil farming hamlet only 3km from the beautiful medieval town of Terrasson La Villedieu in the Dordogne and 12 km from a major city - Brive La Gaillard - in the Correze. There are many activities and places to visit, for example: the prehistoric caves, local historic towns like Sarlat, fabulous chateaux like Hautefort, the bastide towns and vineyards. The large lake just to the south of Brive - the Lac du Causse - has safe 'beaches' for swimming and boating.

#74. Charming cottage in a quiet location

We stayed for our second Christmas here and was very pleased again. The cottage is deceptively spacious and ideally located in a quiet countryside spot but still only a short car or bike ride to the town and all its amenities. Ashley is superb in looking after your needs and is always on hand with any questions. Highly recommended as a base to explore the Dordogne.
