WELCOME to LE JOLI GITE, a lovely 1 bedroomed Gite with pool, situated in beautiful Central Brittany in the commune of Rohan.
Being a short walking distance from the ancient village of Rohan with its bars, boulangeries, restaurants and shops. Walk or cycle along the banks of the very scenic Nantes Brest Canal, past the picturesque lake, into the village centre. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with Pontivy and Loudeac within a 13 mile radius. There is a Carrefour Express (supermarket) in Rohan and a larger supermarket around 3.5 miles away.
The Gite was Refurbished Sept 2018. Upon entering the Gite from your own private entrance at the side of the house, you are immediately into the light and airy LOUNGE/KITCHEN AREA with a comfortable 2/3 seater settee, English & French TV, large window and glass double doors. The KITCHEN area is well equipped with electric cooker, hob and oven, fridge with small freezer above, microwave, cafetiere, kettle, toaster, crockery, cutlery glasses etc. There is also a dining table and chairs. Along the hallway there is a separate TOILET (not suitable for wheelchair), BATHROOM with a large walk-in double shower, grab rail. Twin wash hand basins. There is also a washing machine in the corner. To the end of the hallway is a well appointed spacious DOUBLE BEDROOM having a gorgeous sunny aspect overlooking the pool and countryside. There is a really comfortable 4'6 double bed, a spare bed can be accommodated if needed. Wardrobe and plug in radiator.
The Gite is in a relaxing quiet area, with a really lovely 12 x 4 metre swimming pool (unheated) 2 sun loungers, table and parasol, open from June to end of September. Surrounded on 3 sides by farmland, the Gite has patio with table and chairs to dine 'al fresco' overlooking the lovely gardens. There is off road parking for 2 cars at owners risk, can also accommodate bikes and motor bikes in garage if required. There is a washing line and pegs available for your use.

The Property is suitable for wheelchair users and guests with impaired mobility, except the toilet which cannot accommodate a wheelchair.
There is a Baby bath, high chair, cot if required.

Walls in some rooms are covered in silk fabric and the french doors and large windows give a lovely French feel.
The Gite is within walking distance to Rohan village, lake, Canal, shops and restaurants. Ideal for walking, cycling and boating.
Central Brittany is blessed with beautiful weather most of the year, obviously there are days of rain, but it has a micro climate which means it is often 10 degrees more then the UK in the summer. It is ideally placed for so many beautiful places to visit and things to do all within an hour of the Gite. Below is a selection for you which really are a must to visit, there are of course many more, but we suggest a visit to a Tourist Office who will give you loads of suggestions, leaflets and maps to help you.
PONTIVY (21 mins) - Now a quiet market town where the River Blavet meets the Nantes-Brest canal, Pontivy was once the seat of one of Brittany’s most powerful families before becoming one of Napoléon’s ‘new towns’. Visit the castle then amble around the streets. To get a feel for its medieval origins, head to Place du Martray, which used to be Pontivy’s main square and then take a look at nearby Maison des Trois Piliers (the house with three pillars), the only remaining example in Morbihan of a 16th-century ‘porched house’. The main site in Pontivy is its château, which overlooks the River Blavet a short walk from the town centre. The château, which retains many original features, is open to the public and often stages art exhibitions.

LAKE GUERLEDAN LAKE & DAM (39 mins) - Situated near Mur-de-Bretagne, In the years after the First World War, electricity was a precious and rare commodity, particularly in rural areas. The construction of a 40-meter-high dam, at Guerlédan, to supply electricity to a third of Brittany, was seen as madness. The dam, the power station and Lake Guerlédan now offer an indispensable electric supplement, at times of high consumption.
L’ANSE DE SORDAN at Saint-Aignan (38 mins) - A small cove nestled on the edge of the forest of Quénécan, the Anse de Sordan is dedicated to nautical pleasures and bathing. Fun for all ages, this beach has games for the children and rental of pedalos and canoes. Restaurant on site, overlooking the lake.
JOSSELIN (24 mins) - A very popular place, where there is a perfectly preserved stunningly beautiful chateau which is a medieval fortress and is still lived in by the Duke & Duchess of Rohan. This wonderful Chateau has just been rated (2017) as the 3rd best chateau in the whole of France! It's a must see along with the Chateau's Dolls Museum which is open to visitors from April to October, there are tours in English daily during the summer.
Le Bois d'Amour (Lovers' Wood) in Josselin is literally a "park in a town". It has been created to promote nature and the environment. There is an open air theatre where music events are held during the summer months. An amphitheatre stages open air films and concerts during the summer.
Bastille Day 14th July, a very important date in history for the French which sets the storming of the Bastille in 1789. It has become a major public holiday. with numerous celebrations going on throughout France, Josselin is no exception and holds a Medieval Festival every 2 years, (re-enactment of medieval times) in the cobbled streets with its half timbered medieval houses, this will be happening this year 2018, it is amazing to see, where the whole town dresses up in period costume, with flame throwers, artistes, stalls, restaurants, bars, fireworks and more, a really good weekend not to be missed!
LA GACILLY (54 mins) - A very pretty town, the home of Yves Rocher (cosmetics & perfumes) where the family still live. There are fields of wild flowers around the town which are used to make perfumes in their factory, they also have a shop, spa hotel, and a vegetarian restaurant, very rare in France!
Outdoor Photo Festival (the largest in France), absolutely spectacular, focusing specifically on the environment, is held from June to end of September each year all around the town. Created in 2004 by Jacques Rocher, hundreds of large format photos are installed in the open air throughout the quaint cobbled streets. The aim of the festival is to make the public think about the future of the planet. An absolute must see!
Day Boat Hire, rent a boat in this pretty town, relax and meander through the river Aff which leads to the Nantes/Brest canal, whilst spotting a kingfisher and other wildlife by the banks!
MALESTROIT (44 mins) - A pretty market town with regular concerts in summer. The canal is flanked by paths for walking and cycling, with boating for miles in both directions. On the outskirts of Malestroit is the Musée de la Résistance de Bretagne. This fascinating museum chronicles the vital role played by the people of Brittany at the time of the German Occupation during the second World War.
ROCHEFORT-EN-TERRE (58 mins) - voted “prettiest village in France” in 2015. With its cobbled streets, beautiful geraniums everywhere you look, plentiful restaurants and shops. Don't miss the church with its abundance of stunning stained glass windows, amazing colours, it is a must see on your holiday agenda!
VANNES (1 hr 5 mins) - a beautiful walled city, full of art and history and is without doubt one of Brittany's most attractive sights and a must visit on any trip to the Gulf of Morbihan. Wander around the well preserved medieval streets, don't miss the spectacular and large morning market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, before taking lunch from the numerous restaurants overlooking the harbour side, try the famous seafood which includes oysters and mussels, then take a walk along the harbour with the hundreds of boats to look at whilst working your lunch off!
MALANSAC (1hr 3 mins) - The Prehistoric Park is a great day out for the youngsters. There are 30 scenes of reconstruction of the dinosaur age. The park is based on models and information from the Natural History Museum in Paris.
PLOERMEL (31 mins) - Although a town with lots of shops, on the outskirts Lac au Duc is a large stunning lake measuring 5.5km, with a sandy beach, lots to do here, kyaks, canoes, pedalos, water skiing, fishing, bar/restaurant, plenty of parking, fun for all the family! Adjacent to the lake is Lac au Duc Golf Club, this is a little gem in Brittany, a very popular 9 hole golf course. Take the hortensia trail alongside with 5,500 hortensias! or take all or part of the walk/cycle route around the lake, but beware this is long!

From spectacular beaches with rugged coastlines to vast sandy expanses, to peaceful woods and forests and the famous Nantes-Brest Canal, Brittany has all the makings of a perfect holiday.
The cuisine in the area includes crepes and galettes and of course the seafood! Mussels and oysters are available throughout the region, particularly in the summer months. Cider is produced here and local varieties are available in all supermarkets and restaurants.
During the summer, numerous villages and town celebrate the "Pardon" which is predominantly a religious thanksgiving but is always followed by a celebratory meal (with a drink or two!) and Breton dancing.
